Preparo was not built in a corporate innovation lab. It was built by five students at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management who experienced firsthand what happens when a family is not prepared and decided to do something about it.
Preparo started with a simple, uncomfortable question: if something happened to you tomorrow, would your family know what to do? Where to look? Who to call? For most people, the honest answer is no.
Marco experienced this firsthand when a close family member passed away without leaving any organized documentation behind. What followed was months of searching through drawers, calling banks, tracking down insurance policies, and trying to piece together a life from scattered fragments. At a time that should have been about grieving, it became about paperwork.
That experience became the founding idea for Preparo. Not a grand corporate vision, but a direct response to a problem that millions of families face and almost no one talks about.
We didn't build Preparo because we read a market report. We built it because we lived the problem, and we couldn't find anything that actually solved it.
Your data is encrypted end-to-end and stored in Europe. We never sell or share your information. What's in your vault stays in your vault.
Every decision we make starts with one question: does this make things easier for families? If the answer isn't yes, we rethink it.
Legacy planning is already difficult emotionally. We make it as simple as possible structurally, technically, and in how we communicate.
Each of us brings something different to the table. What we share is a belief that this product should exist and that it should be built properly.
Marco is studying Business Administration at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and has built a strong foundation across consulting, audit, and corporate strategy through roles at Baker Tilly, GHK Management Consulting, Siemens, and FORVIA HELLA. He also completed an exchange semester at Bond University in Australia.
The idea for Preparo grew from a personal experience with loss and the chaos that followed. Marco saw firsthand how the absence of organized documentation turns grief into months of bureaucratic struggle. That experience became the driving force behind building a product he wishes had existed for his own family.
He did a Voluntary Social Year before university, which shaped his belief that meaningful work should always start with people, not products.
Leonard is studying Business Administration at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management with a clear focus on M&A and finance. He has gained hands-on experience as an M&A Analyst at DEALCIRCLE and through internships in audit and financial services regulatory at Forvis Mazars. He spent a semester abroad at EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
Through his work in M&A, Leonard repeatedly encountered situations where missing or disorganized documentation created serious complications for families and estate processes. When Marco shared the vision for Preparo, the problem felt immediately familiar. He joined as co-founder to build the financial structure that gives the mission a long-term foundation.
He is the person on the team most likely to have a spreadsheet open at any given moment, which the others consider both a strength and a personality trait.
Jannik is studying Business Administration at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and has built experience across consulting and investment banking through roles at GHK Management Consulting, Sweco, and benten capital, where he currently works as an M&A intern. He also completed an exchange semester at Bond University in Australia.
Jannik joined Preparo because the operational challenge resonated with him: how do you build a product that genuinely simplifies one of the most emotionally charged processes a family goes through? His background in consulting and structured problem-solving shapes how he thinks about making Preparo work seamlessly for real users under real pressure.
He brings the kind of attention to process and detail that keeps a young company from moving fast in the wrong direction.
Emilia is studying Business Administration at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. During an internship in Group ESG Strategy at Deutsche Börse, she developed a strong interest in how organizations communicate purpose and build trust around topics that genuinely matter to people.
At Preparo, she focuses on how to reach the people who need this product but have never thought about it, and how to make conversations about legacy planning feel less like a burden and more like an act of care. She believes the biggest challenge in this space is not the product but the narrative around it, and that changing the narrative is where real growth happens.
She is the person on the team most focused on what the outside world sees and feels when they encounter Preparo for the first time.
Elisa is studying Business Administration at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. She grew up in Genoa, Italy, attending the Deutsche Schule Genua where she earned both the German International Abitur and the Italian Diploma di Esame di Stato. Her background spans customer-facing roles in the cruise and port industry, where she gained early experience in communication, data management, and working across cultures under pressure.
She joined Preparo because the mission spoke to something personal. Growing up between two cultures, she experienced firsthand how differently families approach conversations about death and legacy. In Italian households it is often open, practical, and treated as part of life. She wants to bring that same openness to Preparo, both in how the team works together and in how the product feels to the people who use it.
She is the team's connector: the person who makes sure no one gets lost, no voice goes unheard, and the culture reflects the care the product promises.
